Message If I'm not mistaken, the coil is just an electro magnet. So I can see it failing where the circuit fails and it's open or even a short in the coil, preventing it from forming the required magnetic field to pull the clutch in. But how can it fail so that it keeps the clutch engaged all the time? That would require a constant voltage to the coil, which would indicate another issue external to the clutch/coil.

Conversation between my sister and my wife (shortly before we
got married):
Wife: "You know, sometimes I think he loves that Z more than he
does me."
Sister: "He probably does, and as long as you're okay with that,
everything will be fine."
